Butterfly Samsa Lyrics
From the sound of it, one could have assumed Zac Efron would have been singing about flowers in the new “The Nightcore” by Alesso. What the new artist instead chose to share was a tale of betrayal and pain, set against the backdrop of a hot, humid night in Los Angeles. It’s one of the most meaningful, honest songs Zac Efron has ever performed. One minute he is complaining about the heat and being soaked in sweat, the next he’s in a conversation with Christian Audigier about the state of modern music. But the most moving moment in the song is when he admits that he hasn’t got time for romance anymore, because he’s focusing on his career.
The Nightcore by Alesso is the first time published recording from Alesso’s impressive career as a singer and songwriter. This album showcases the full range of talents that made Alesso such a popular figure in the early days of her breakthrough, self-titled 2008 debut album that earned him comparisons to legends such as Michael Jackson. It’s a collection that includes some of his best work to date, with a variety of styles and moods ranging from light and airy melodies to dark and mysterious moods. The first single, titled “Ascetic”, is an energetic, danceable number that works well as a first cut, or as a closer, with an edgy feel and high octane rhythms. With Alesso at his adventurous best on this track, the track is an immediate success, setting the tone for what is to follow on the next track, “Sotto de la Vida”.
It is important to note that this album is different from many of Alesso’s previous singles, in that it doesn’t even feature any instruments other than his voice and guitar. Instead, this album is a visual feast of imagery and human emotion, as is evident in both its subject matter (which is the LA nightlife) and the star-studded lyrics that pepper the album. While Alesso has said that he wants the next album to be more diverse and experimental, fans of the album already can tell that this is not the case; it is one of the most diverse and forward-thinking projects from Alesso yet, with songs that deal with issues affecting not only the city of Los Angeles but also the individual soul of each resident. This album is a must-listen for everyone who loves the sound of Alesso and wishes to feel the same way.
