The first step is to draw the butterfly’s body in Photoshop. Select the Ellipse Tool and make a dark brown circle. Then, select the Mesh Tool and create a net of a dark-brown color. Once you have a net, click on the Object Inspector to select the new shape. You can then change the color in Photoshop to make it appear darker. After this, you’re all set. But if you don’t want to draw a butterfly in this way, you can use the Ellipse Tool instead.
Once you have the basic outline, create the butterfly’s wing. Make sure you use a smooth anchor point for the wing. Then, use the Direct Selection Tool to deform the shape. Use the Pen Tool to create the wing shape and fill it with light blue. You’ll adjust the colors later. Once you have completed the wing, you can add the antennae by selecting the Pen Tool (P). Use the same brush that you used for the veins on the butterfly’s wings. Now, you can group and ungroup the shape and paste it in front of the blue shape.
