How to Make a Hanging House for Butterflies

Butterflies hanging from the ceiling can be created a fun project for any amateur or professional within the home. You will need a standard box that has some type of netting on each side, and some caulking along the top and bottom corners so that when it is hung it does not stick directly to the sides. Then you will need to purchase some Styrofoam peanuts, or Styrofoam balls, or you can always try to make your own by using a styrofoam cup and placing a peanut or two inside. Next you will need to purchase an insect tape, and a hot glue gun to attach the ends of the Styrofoam to the netting. Once you have gathered these items, all you have to do is take the clip that goes on the end of the butterfly and stick it in the center of one of the holes on the Styrofoam, or the peanut, or whatever other object that you are going to attach to the ceiling.

This is actually a very easy project to make, and can be done almost anywhere due to the versatility of the materials that you will use. A butterfly can hang on a door knob, or if you would like to add a little extra decoration to the walls, you can find numerous butterflies hanging… even fake butterflies. Another advantage of making your own DIY butterfly house is that not only is the design much more unique and personal, but it also makes a wonderful addition to the room that you chose to hang the decorations.

All that you need to purchase for this project… the Styrofoam, the nuts or bolts or the screws, and the pest tape, is easily found at your local hardware store. If you do not wish to purchase these items pre-built, you can always build them yourself from scratch. As long as you have a set of px table legs, a small pvc vase, a small jar, and some wire, you should have everything that you need to complete your DIY butterflies hanging from ceiling project within a matter of an hour or two. The final step is simply attaching the Styrofoam vase to the back of the vase and you will have a beautiful mini-morgue filled storage area for your butterflies.
