Magnolia X Butterflies

One of the most beautiful tree varieties you can grow is Magnolia x butterflies. The name “butterflies” comes from the flowers, which have pointed petals that look like miniature orbs of sunlight. This particular magnolia has yellow blossoms in the summer, and their seed pods open up to reveal bright red berries in the fall. This is an upright tree with an attractive foliage color that will last well into winter.

Butterfly Magnolia is a small-sized tree that grows to 18 feet tall and ten feet wide. It can grow up to 50 years, but it is best suited to gardens that do not experience frost or cold wind. It is a good choice for gardens with low-lying power lines, since the canopy is not too wide. ‘Butterflies’ is an outstanding choice for any garden or patio.

It has a dense, pyramidal habit. Its leaves have a rough texture, but remain attractive throughout the growing season. The butterfly Magnolia is a great specimen for your lawn. It produces masses of canary yellow flowers that are 4-5 inches wide, with ten to sixteen tepals. Its foliage is dark green all year, and will need regular watering.
